The Oviedo High School Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund, presented by Luker & Co., was created to celebrate the legacy of athletics, education, and community that runs deep in our family and our hometown. As former student-athletes at Oviedo High School, both Jack and Tom Luker know firsthand the dedication, discipline, and balance it takes to succeed on and off the field.

Our family’s connection to Oviedo athletics spans generations. Jack continues to give back as head coach of the Oviedo High School Boys Varsity Soccer team, alongside our older brother, Ben. Years before, our father, Geoff Luker, devoted countless seasons coaching soccer at Oviedo, instilling a love for the game and a commitment to teamwork in hundreds of student-athletes. That tradition of mentorship, leadership, and community support is what inspired us to launch this scholarship.

The fund was created with one mission in mind: to support and reward student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, and character. By providing financial assistance, we hope to ease the transition from high school to higher education and empower the next generation of leaders, both on the field and in the classroom.

How it works

The OHS Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund is fueled by our real estate business, Luker & Co. Every time someone from the greater Oviedo High School community buys or sells a home with us, a portion of our sales commission is donated directly to the scholarship fund.

It’s simple:

  • If you’re an OHS parent, alumni, athlete, or supporter, your real estate transaction makes an immediate impact.
  • If it’s your family member or a friend, their deal counts too, as long as they mention they heard about us through someone affiliated with Oviedo High School or the scholarship program.
  • This scholarship exists because of the strength of our community. We cannot do it without you. Each real estate transaction doesn’t just move a family into a new chapter of life — it also helps a student-athlete chase their dreams of higher education.

Scholarship Details

To kick things off, Luker & Co. has contributed an initial $500 to the OHS Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund. From there, every scholarship is awarded in amounts up to $1,500 per student.

Here’s how it works:

  • The first student selected can receive up to $1,500.
  • Once that award is funded, the next student begins receiving funds, again up to $1,500.
  • This process continues so that each deserving athlete has the opportunity to benefit until all funds are allocated..

This approach ensures that the scholarship fund directly supports as many Oviedo student-athletes as possible, providing meaningful assistance toward their higher education journey.

Eligibility and Applications

The OHS Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund is open to students who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a graduating senior at Oviedo High School
  • Must participate in a sanctioned sport or organization directly sponsored by the OHS Boosters Club

If you meet these requirements, you are eligible to apply. To begin, students must complete the form below. Once submitted, you will receive detailed instructions on the next steps, which include:

  • Completing a brief survey
  • Submitting a personal essay
  • Providing recommendation letters

All eligible applications will be reviewed by a panel. There is no single criterion we are seeking — every qualified student will be given full consideration.

  • Application Deadline: March 31
  • Winners Announced: Oviedo High School Awards Night at the end of the school year
